Faltering Western Aid Sparks A Fearless Rethink By Ukraine

As Europe braces itself for the incoming Trump administration, a sea of political chaos in the United States is setting the tone for the next four years. A European example of insightful risk identification with risk mitigation comes from war torn Ukraine. Has Ukraine written off as lost, continuing US military aid from the incoming Trump administration?

The European Union moves more conservatively on posture changes regarding the United States. It is politically astute to do so, with two of the twenty-seven member states clearly in Putin’s pocket. What the Europe Union gets for this slow approach to changing its risk posture is time, which Ukraine does not have.

Ukraine Bombed with Impunity

Trump org’s GOP have tied up US military aid for Ukraine in ways that are tantamount to dirty pro-Russian politics. Their callousness in doing this has an ulterior motive, that will become clearer during the next Trump administration. Regardless, what shines through is the reaction from Kyiv, as they fight a ‘David verus Goliath’ type of battle for existence.

Russian-led hybrid warfare has tied up the politics of the United States along with several European nations towards Ukraine. This hamstrung effect has allowed Russia to commit war crime after war crime. Of note is their use of long-range weapons from Russian territory, targeting Ukrainian civilians.

Ukraine Sees US Security Dependence With Fresh Eyes

Ukraine saw this risk for what it was. Its critical aid to Ukraine’s survival, falling victim to Trump org and their fascist styled playbook of dirty tricks. President Zelensky has been a model politician that many western leaders would do well to learn from. He could break down the threat landscape to one inescapable conclusion. Ukraine, in order to survive, needs to make its own long-range missiles.

As US politicians falter in the face of rising fascist like behavior from a well coordinated Trump org, Ukraine has taken steps to do what many European leaders are struggling to conceptualize. They are taking steps to decouple its security dependance on the United States.

Long Range Drones By Ukraine for Russia

2025 will be a tough year for many. As Russia’s false economy implodes, Ukraine has survived long enough to recover to a point where they can produce their own long range drones. Russia’s escalation of physical world attacks, such as underwater cable-cutting in the Baltic, is evidence of Putin’s growing desperation to keep hybrid warfare narratives alive.

Reported delivery of a predicted 30,000 “Peklo” drones with a 700km range is the first of two strategic steps. It will see Ukraine been able to supplement its arsenal of long-range weapons in the face of hesitant western support. This Ukrainian first-version drone is not as accurate as western drones. At a fraction of the cost, however, this practical Ukrainian weapon can supplement the tactical use of many overpriced long-range western-weapons.

Ukraine Produces New Long Range Missile

Another innovation by Ukraine is the “Trembita” missile to complement its stock of long-range western-weapons. The missile has a 90km range with a 40 pound warhead. While it does not have the accuracy or punching power of the ATACMS or Storm Shadow, it fills a critical role in halting Russian attacks on Ukrainian civilians.

Ukraine has cleverly and sparingly used western-weapons, hitting Russian military and infrastructure targets in a best effort approach. In 2025, they can expand their efforts to cripple Putin’s war machine. This means Ukrainian long-range weapons hitting Russian targets.

The anxiety around Ukrainian military support in western political circles tells a story. It tells a story of Russian barbarism, breaking the established norms of the post World War 2 era, catching western politics out in the open. Ukraine, under the weight of a heroic stand against a shambolic Russian falsehood for war, has strategically, and culturally, evolved faster to survive. For generations, no western nation has had to do so.

A Risk Perspective on Action and Consequence

Ukrainians must view western support stalling in the face of persistent Russian barbarism as a trauma in of itself. If Ukraine were to fall, the innovation, tenacity, and ability of Ukrainians would, after a time of barbaric consolidation, become part of a Russian-led war machine.

For our own national interests, and our moral souls, we must not let that happen. Our will to fight is under attack, so let’s dispense with Kremlin falsehoods, which Trump org is so found of, and move to action. We Europeans can mitigate our own risk. All we have to do is shorten the Ukrainian weapons deficit, by simply helping Ukraine to help us.

Kyiv took the first step in a new way forward on tactical weapon stock. Purpose, not profit, should pave the way for all European nations to take the next step with them. After all, it’s our future as Europeans, not just theirs. Let’s realize Moscow’s worst fears and do this together.
