In every story worth telling, something changes. Someone makes a choice—and the world, for better or worse, is never quite the same. That’s the heartbeat of post apocalyptic science fiction, and also the core premise behind my in-progress web novel, Hindsight Station.
Beyond the explosions, plot twists, and technological marvels, there’s a deeper thread that runs through this sci-fi thriller. What if you had to stand trial for your past, not just in a court of law, but in the court of time itself? How would the aggregation of your choices reflect on you?
Post Apocalyptic Science Fiction
Set over three hundred years into the future, the echoes of long taken actions haunt the survivors of Earth. Only a few with foresight saw the consequences coming. In the real world, we are feeling the impact of a changing world order, where yesterday’s norms can disappear in a heartbeat.
In this futuristic world, the manifestation of malicious intent ended the known world in a nuclear holocaust. It’s a serialized story about regret, redemption, and responsibility—and so far, it’s an absolute thrill to write.
After I launch, and post new installments initially on Patreon, I invite readers to not only enjoy the futuristic spectacle but also to consider the central theme. What happens when consequences are no longer abstract—can we fight to defend our vision for a better tomorrow?
Consequences Matter–In Stories and In Life
We often use technology in science fiction as a mirror: we ask “what if” so we can understand “what is.” With Hindsight Station, I wanted to examine how our choices—especially the ones we’d rather forget—shape who we become. Starting with a post apocalyptic world thus became a logical choice.
If James Fong took an overt stand against the shadow order before they triggered a nuclear war, would billions of lives be safe from harm? Such decisions have consequences. Maybe James would die trying and nobody would have planned like he did to resurrect humanity’s hope in a post apocalyptic world?
Action and Consequence: The Sum of Our Choices
Science fiction thrillers aren’t just about bullets and betrayal—they’re about the turning points. The fork in the road. The split-second decision, which alters everything. Whether in fiction or real life, these moments define us. James made his choices in the most terrible of circumstances.
My hope with Hindsight Station is to deliver an edge-of-your-seat experience and a lens to think about your own story. Is all the suffering, hardship and malice we are force fed via daily media, truly an omen for our future? Can we see the world through a different lense if we need to? Can we forge a better path?

For the Hindsight Station universe, the survivors of nuclear holocaust needed a lifeline to survive. Only a few saw beyond the brutality of the day and accepted the reality unfolding before them. In my experience, clarity is a marvellous thing. Hindsight Station shows us that even in science fiction, there is always hope for tomorrow once we see through the midst of today.
About the Author
As I move onto my next authoring project, I will post less frequently on the real-world issues linked to my novel, From Terror to Valor: Echoes and Shadows. My next project, Hindsight Station, will initially be a progression science fiction, web-novel delivered via Patreon and eventually another web serial platform.
