Imagine scifi tech like condensed matter systems producing enough energy to power everything from toasters to starships? Sounds like science fiction, but do the ship’s engines of your favorite science fiction movie have a place in reality? I would like to think so, as researchers make breakthroughs in condensed matter physics.
Imagine a power generation unit that can take light and transform it into a frictionless super-solid structure. This new structure can then regulate a larger engine using polariton dispersion. Complex radiation may then see energy dispersed for generation or propulsion purposes.
SciFi Tech Calling From A Future World
This scientific breakthrough in material physics is real, yet the potential uses of it are mostly science fiction. This is where science fiction shines. Imagine it–we use condensed matter systems to generate power from an equilibrium correction. We then filter quantum charge as light, driving the equilibrium correction, and resulting power dissipation into channels or propulsion.

The science is far-fetched–but in the world of science fiction, anything is possible. While science builds upon fluid to super-solid breakthroughs covering fifty years, can we imagine reaching out to the stars? Who knows, maybe our fictional musings will join dots we may otherwise miss. At some point, James Fong may stand over the launch of Starship Orion as it embarks on its first intergalactic mission.
SciFi Tech At Ardland Base
In my web serial, Hindsight Station–our protagonist and scientist, James Fong, saw the future as bleak. Warring super powers were heading towards nuclear war. His preparations for the fateful day–while substantial, paled in his eyes as the universe allowed him to do more with less.
Scifi tech from light producing algae to ion based engine design, James’s innovations were about listening to the universe. The scientist made no bones about the dire straits they were in, nor his resolve to see better days with his son, Daniel. I am currently on chapter sixteen, and will not spoil the story for you. However, I will say he invents a lot of cool stuff in Hindsight Station.
James’s world is some three hundred years from now, but can we see a little of ourselves in this futuristic sci-fi web serial? Can we remediate our shortfalls as a species and head to the stars? I think so, and James is determined to see it so. Hindsight Station, like science, is a voyage of discovery.
Web Serials Coming Home
The progression nature of this sci-fi web serial makes it as much a human story as it is a technology evolution. This is important to me for a few reasons. We live in an age where breakthroughs like making super-solids from light could lead to a radical shift in our technology. Despite how it sounds, it initially creates more risks than benefits.
Technology needs to bring humanity with it on its journey–not pile ahead in a frantic race to market, while leaving the market’s audience in the dark. James saw this in his fictional world, and used technology in his response. He relied on science as much as his humanity to survive, and then thrive. In the real world, I submit we are no different. What do you think?
About the Author
As I move onto my next authoring project, I will post less frequently on the real-world issues linked to my novel, From Terror to Valor: Echoes and Shadows. My next project, Hindsight Station, will be a progression science-fiction webnovel, delivered via Patreon and eventually Royal Road.
